President’s Message

From: President Rodney Bryan

Members, I hope all is well with each of you.

We have a path forward towards providing an option of in-person meetings to our members.

Member and Speaker options

Members will have the option to attend a monthly meeting in-person or online

  1. The health and well-being of our members are our top priority, and we want each person to enjoy the benefits of the club within their risk tolerance.
  2. There will be no interruption of the current member online experience. I anticipate the online option being in place for the foreseeable future.

Speakers will have the option to present in-person or online

  1. The speakers having an option for online or in-person will help us accommodate the speaker’s health concerns and/or travel requirements.
  2. This means even though we have members in the VFW Hall (in-person), the speaker for the day could be presenting to them online.

Online speaker w/ in-person VFW attendees

Video will be projected to +70 image, and audio will go through the speakers.  Essentially the same experience we had in the past except the presenter will not be in the room.  We upgraded the projector and speakers a year or so before COVID so we feel great about the experience we can deliver.

In Person speaker w/ online attendees

The content will be livestream as it is today, and we will purchase any additional equipment needed to deliver a delight online experience

Here are two very critical requirements that align with VFW and  WA GOV rules

  1. Proof of vaccination required to enter the VFW
  2. No more than 60 people in the VFW hall

FACT:  Fully vaccinated folks can carry and transmit COVID but the risk of getting seriously ill is significantly reduced.  Please note, that none of the vaccine manufacturers have made  a claim of 100% effectiveness.

Given the fact above, we still need to enjoy each other’s company in a socially responsible way.

Here are some realities for now, these will change as the VFW returns to full staffing next year

  1. There will be no dinner service provided by VFW
    • The bar will be open to purchase beverages
  2. There will be no catering provided by OFFC
  3. Members can bring food for personal consumption not to be shared with others.
  4. Members must preregister to attend in person see form at “Members Home“.
