Fishing Washington Lakes, Rivers and Puget Sound

Donte Quinine

Donte will discuss how to set yourself up for success when
fishing Western Washington lakes, rivers, and beaches during the fall months.

Donte will cover gear setup, fly patterns, casting
techniques, and best practices for catching more fall steelhead, salmon, and trout.

Donte Quinine developed an instant passion for fly fishing in the year 2000. After catching one small trout on the Yakima River, Donte instantly fell in love with the sport and never looked back. Donte has spent the past 20 years chasing any species that will eat a fly. He has fished some of the most famous fly fishing destinations and urban
mudholes.

As a career educator and professor, Donte loves to introduce new anglers to fly fishing. He is an excellent teacher and a world class fly
caster. Donte has spent the last decade as a casting instructor and fly fishing guide in Western Washington. Donte guides all waters, including Puget Sound beaches, lakes, and rivers.

An old soul and romantic at heart, Donte fishes exclusively with fiberglass fly rods from wooden drift boats.

President’s Message October 2022

From: President Rodney Bryan

Hello Members

Hello Members Time flies! It is already October…Your fly flies if you have the right loop in your back cast especially if you are casting an October Caddis in October on a smokey day. Hope that made you smile or at least shake your head because it was so darn useless. I am willing to bet most of you shook your head. Mission accomplished!

We are approaching the end of the year, and the club is moving forward as strong as ever. I truly appreciate each and every one of you, and I want to thank each new member for giving us an opportunity to be part of your fly fishing experience. I hope many of you form strong lasting friendships with other members of our club.

We had our first in-person guest speaker since the start of the pandemic, and we had strong attendance online and in person. We will continue offering both options to attend our club meetings as long as both options continue to be utilized.

I announced the new Member Wellness committee chaired by the honorable(?) Christopher Bentsen during our last membership meeting. This committee is meant to ensure that each member of our club knows that we care about their wellness especially when there are any hardships in their lives.
If you know a member that could benefit from the member wellness committee reaching out to them, please send an email to wellness@offc.org, and we will reach out to them. Reaching out could be phone call, a visit, an invitation to fish/lunch/walk/anything, flowers, a card, or any expression of sincere care about their wellbeing. Also, please let us know if you would like to be on the committee.

We just closed on having an outing at Lake Hannan on Saturday October 15th, 2022. I am looking forward to seeing many of you on the water with me, we will have the lake to ourselves so no need to worry about weekend crowds. At a minimum, I will be able to witness your fishing prowess firsthand, and share a few good laughs with you. It will also be a great opportunity to show off all your dedication to being safe on the water by wearing your lifejacket.

We are having a holiday party at the VFW this year, the party will be on the Tuesday December 13th , 2022, and it will be catered. We will have auctions online and in person, and some other fun activities for all to enjoy. Please be on the lookout for additional information coming your way.

We still need additional volunteers to help with the holiday party so please reach out to Steve Foisie if you are willing to help out. Your commitment could be as small but yet valuable as helping us setup the tables the night of the holiday party.

Please do whatever you can to help our club achieve our goals

  1. Membership value for each member
  2. Strong Member Community
  3. Helping others discover and enjoy Fly Fishing

Please send me any feedback or suggestions, I look forward to making the most of this opportunity that you have given me (president@offc.org)
